[Major][Combat Abilities] Confusing/wrong work of Abilities which hit Nearby Enemy

#1

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Start the game
  2. Continue the last save
  3. Start any fight
  4. Use any Combat Ability which hits Nearby Enemy

Result:
It is not clear what nearby enemy will be hit. The game never shows what exact nearby enemy will be hit.
But the worst thing, when I hit middle enemy, both nearby enemies should be hit! For me this is the most frustrating thing in the game right now. This issue absolutely destroys all tactical potential of all Combat Abilities which hit Nearby Enemies. This is also very unintuitive!

On the screenshot I’m using Scatter Shot on Cave Spider to make sure Lycelot Bomber will be dead next turn. But for absolutely no reason the ability hits Cave Spider and Lycelot Scirmisher! This is incredibly frustrating and unintuitive!

I really hope it is just a bug so you guys can fix it. Otherwise, I hope you can agree with me and change this thing. Hope fellow players can support me on this.

@HarryDemch thanks for the feedback! The nearby enemy will be chosen at random. To better control which enemy will be hit, you can choose the top or bottom one to ensure the middle one will also be hit. It is balanced to be more efficient at doing damage than a comparable single target ability for its speed/casting cost by adding some splash damage to an extra target, which is why we dont have it hit 3 when choosing the middle target.

Hey, @Airship-Steve!

Thank you very much for your reply!
Yes, this is viable advice for Abilities which deal same amount of damage to both enemies. Not that good for Abilities like Scatter Shot though.

Well, I guess I have to deal with it.

Thanks!
