Can't interact on worldmap

Everything on the worldmap is very nearly unresponsive. Treasure, items, locations, dungeons, etc.

I can eventually interact with them, but I have to constantly walk over the area again & again & again mashing the button hoping to find that sweet spot to get it to work. It is making the game almost unplayable.

Playing on Steam btw.

Sorry to hear that! Some questions:

  • What kind of controller are you playing with?
  • Is this a new issue, or has happened from the start?
  • Are you coming to a stop before trying to pick up items?
  • Is there any way you could post a video? I wonder if there’s something we’d notice.

We haven’t seen this issue before (though I think we had one other report of it); usually, it’s pretty easy to interact with things on the worldmap when everything is working properly.

  • Controller is a Cideko Conqueror, but it does it when using keyboard as well
  • I’ve had this issue since the beginning
  • I stop on the icon location marker. The tool tip doesn’t stay up either. Usually I have to sort of take little baby steps all over the marker while mashing the button.
  • Here’s a video. I used my keyboard so you can actually hear me pressing the key.

Also, the “jumpiness” of the character animations isn’t an issue in the video render. It is another issue in the game that I’ve been having.

Wow, that is crazy! We’ve never seen that before, but I think we’ve gotten a few other reports.

Long shot, but does it happen if you unplug that controller?

Could you send me your logfile from the game. Should be in:
D:\Program Files (x86)\SteamLibrary\steamapps\common\Battle Chasers Nightwar\BC_Data\output_log.txt

Also your hardware info from steam: in steam go to Help->System Information, and copy and paste that here, too.

Talking with the team, this could happen if your controller right strick is pulling slightly off center. The game would try to scroll the camera constantly, and reset it as you walked.

Yup, that is the issue. Just realized the map scrolling and characters rotating in the menu ever so subtly. The weird thing is, it does it even when the controller is off. Also, forgot to mention I’m using x360ce which emulates my controller as an xbox controller.

Yes! I was able to find a workaround by using x360ce to adjust the deadzone on the right stick. Despite it being a hardware issue on my end, you were still able to help me solve it. You rock!

On the other issue, in my video, did you notice the jitteriness of the screen scrolling & character animations on the world map? That is an issue I can deal with, but it might still be worth looking into. Thanks again.

@Hooper I’m experiencing the same issue on the switch, unfortunately the console is notorious for slightly moving to the side. Is there a planned update for this?

It’s tricky because we can’t see it happening here. Does your right stick move slightly while in other games?

We have a deadzone already, and we could try increasing it, but the hard part is knowing how much without having your Switch in front of us.
